Job Overview

The NCI Quality and EHS departments are responsible for ensuring our products and services meet or exceed customer expectations and the application of effective workplace safety and environmental management at the North Las Vegas facility. The team of EHS, Quality Engineers, Technicians and Document Control Clerks partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safety, measure performance, qualify only the highest quality vendors, consistently calibrating company procedures to support the design, manufacture, assembly and export of high quality engineered products.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing and improving the Quality Management System.
  • Walks the facility on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support
  • Analyzing, identifying and implementing manufacturing and/or business process improvements which will improve capability and performance.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation, such as quality manuals, and quality procedures.
  • Troubleshooting problems or quality issues related to products or processes.
  • Has knowledge and is able to enforce compliance of regulatory requirements (i.e., OSHA, Nevada OSHA, EPA, NDEP, etc.), including company EHS policies and procedures
  • Meeting with members of the production team to offer recommendations and share results.
  • Maintaining and controlling calibration records for test and inspection equipment.
  • Applying good manufacturing practice and observing that it is being adhered to.
  • Performing tests and measurements using existing measurement equipment.
  • Participating in teams to help make necessary improvements and changes to all process related issues in the production department.
  • Verify parts and products are compliant to specifications.
  • Defines quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff.
  • Maintains product quality by ensuring quality assurance policies and procedures in compliant with current ISO standards.
  • Collaborates with other members of management to develop new product requirements and manufacturing and training methods.
  • Report non-conformances in the CAR database and assign and follow-up on CAR’s.
  • Focal point for Supplier Quality Management support including on-site evaluations or audits
  • Manage internal Audits of the Quality Management System and processes.

Qualifications

  • Sound mathematical and technical skills.
  • Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to think logically and methodically.
  • Good interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills combined with the ability to delegate.
  • Decision making ability coupled with the ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Knowledge of statistical packages and Microsoft Office systems normally required.
  • Proficient in the use of measuring equipment, Faro Arm, Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gage
  • Dimensional inspection experience of machined components.
  • Previous exposure to a machine shop, foundry or sheet metal shop.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Quality System auditing and reporting experience.
  • In depth working knowledge of ISO 9001 standard.  Familiar with ISO 14001 and 45001 desired.
  • Understanding of standard manufacturing and safety compliance processes.

 Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred
  • Associated Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) designation preferred
  • Experience in process safety management and ISO 45001/14001 a plus
  • ASQ certification is also strongly preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in a QA leadership or management role within a manufacturing environment
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be accepted.

Environmental Safety Requirements:

  • New Employee Safety Training is required by all newly hired employees, including Safety Awareness
  • All safety related training is provided and tracked by the EH&S Technician
  • Job specific training modules deemed necessary by employee’s Manager or Director will be required of all employees on an ongoing basis
  • Employees are required to wear Nikkiso provided PPE as/when needed. PPEs include, face coverings, safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats & dust masks. Failure to comply with Nikkiso Cryo safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
