JOB DESCRIPTION 

Job Title:Baker  

Department:Contracted Foods 

Reports To:Director of Culinary Operations 

FLSA Status:Non-Exempt 

Approved By:Human Resources 

 

General Description: 

The Baker is responsible for the daily operation of the bakery and coordination with the culinary operations team. The Baker works closely to support the training efforts of the Professional Cook and Baker classes which will ensure that students are well-trained on the job duties of baking and cooking as set forth by the hotel industry needs. This position requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable and fulfilling obligations. Must be pleasant with others on the job and display a good-natured, cooperative attitude. Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks and a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.  

Essential Functions: 

  • Follow proper baking techniques, including Assembling products, mixing methods, recipe conversion, baking products, finishing products, and proper storage of raw and baked goods.
  • Ensure quality and consistent products are made and served.
  • Ability to plate and platter finished products for events or delivery.
  • Develop professional proficiencies
  • Practice safety, sanitation, and food storage procedures 
  • Provide student instruction as needed on the fundamentals of baking techniques.
  • Provide desserts utilized in CALV Food and Beverage operations
  • Enforcement of SNHD policy and procedures 
  • Understand importance of meeting deadlines, keeping, a “sense of urgency,” and enhancing understanding basic procedures
  • Continuous professional development
  • Maintain inventories as required
  • Order food products to support approved menus
  • Require clean and organized work areas
  • Provide teamwork in all aspects of daily operations

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of baking and pastries. Minimum one year of work experience in baking.

Licensing and Certification: 

  • Current Health Card (required)

 

Note: Any degree, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be obtained from an accredited educational institution.
