Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Network Analyst to join our team. The Principal Network Analyst will have extensive experience with network design and protocols along with a proven track record of successfully use of monitoring tools and troubleshooting.  This person is part of a team of network engineers that work on the installation, configuration and upgrade of routers, switches, firewalls and related products across different OS environments (Linux, Windows).  This network administrator will also share responsibility for security patching production and non-production environments.

The Principal Network Analyst will work closely with the other information technology groups on system design and implementation projects.  This person will maintain backup and recovery plans, implement and maintain security tools, perform capacity planning, and will be part of an on-call rotation.  The Principal Network Analyst will work with vendors to determine upgrade paths and will maintain documentation and standards for network tasks.  This position will evaluate Extreme Networks, Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, and other vendor related products and will make recommendations for future activities and tools

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage numerous network transportation devices on Linux and Microsoft Windows environments both on-prem and in the Cloud.
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VoIP, VPN, QoS)
  • Monitor network health and proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues.
  • Create, maintain, and modify system plans and network diagrams.
  • Research, plan, recommend, and implement patches, upgrades and installations for network products, including system patches.
  • Tune database environments to ensure performance and service delivery expectations are met.
  • Participate in the resolution of critical and complex design and implementation issues across projects.
  • Ensure business continuity through design, implementation and testing of disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Meet with internal customers for requirement gathering and to develop solutions.
  • Provide mentoring to less experienced team members.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent training and experience with at least 8 years of related experience.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent experience desired.
    • Minimum of 8 years networking experience with strong knowledge and experience on OSI and TCP/IP models, routing protocols, and signal flow.
  • Deep understanding of network protocols (e.g., IPSEC, ISIS, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and analytical abilities with the ability to apply commonsense understanding to explore solutions to customer issues with limited information.
  • Must be able to perform root cause analysis of problems, provide solutions and communicate clearly to customers and management.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to set clear priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in supporting 24/7 database production environments and be comfortable resolving support issues in stressful situations.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional, or Extreme Certified Professional, or other comparable vendor certification highly desired.
  • Work will be conducted at our Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, along with occasional work at the NNSS located in Mercury Nevada is required in support of these functions.
  • Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Annual salary range for this position is: $113,276.80 - $172,744.00.


Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
