Job Overview

The Quality Engineer assures consistent quality of production by Assisting the Director of Quality with enforcement of Good Automated Manufacturing Practice (“GAMP”) systems, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction through continuous assurance and improvements in our Company’s products and services by maintaining the highest standards. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Verify parts and products compliance to specifications.
  • Enforces quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management, production operators, technicians, and engineers
  • Ensures targeted compliance objectives are achieved
  • Defines quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff
  • Enforces Company standards of service for customers or clients
  • Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements
  • Collaborates with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs and manufacturing and training methods
  • Maintains quality assurance staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Report non-conformances in the CAPA data base

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • Proficient in the use of measuring equipment, Faro Arm/CMM, Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gage
  • Dimensional inspection experience of machined components
  • Previous exposure to a machine shop, foundry or sheet metal shop
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • QA audit experience
  • Experience with ISO standards
  • Understanding of standard manufacturing and safety compliance

Work Environmental and Physical Demands:

  • In order to perform the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls
  • Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates. This may include week days, weekends, nights and/or holidays
  • Job will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require travel. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply
  • Travel between the NCI facility locations as required

Environmental Safety Requirements

  • New Employee Safety Training is required by all newly hired employees, including Safety Awareness.
  • All safety-related training is provided and tracked by the EHS Director.
  • Job specific training modules deemed necessary by the employee’s Manager or Director will be required of all employees on an ongoing basis.
  • Understanding and ability to safely work in a potentially explosive environment.

Employees are required to wear Nikkiso provided PPE as/when needed. PPEs include safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats and dust masks. Failure to comply with Nikkiso safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Associate’s Degree or higher is preferred but not required.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be accepted
  • 4+ years’ experience in a QA leadership, Analyst, or Engineer role within a manufacturing environment
