Company Overview:

We are an innovative modular housing company focused on delivering high-quality, factory-built ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units) across California. As we scale operations, we seek a licensed Responsible Managing Employee (RME) to supervise site preparation, installation, and ensure compliance with California contractor licensing requirements.

Position Summary:

The RME will serve as the qualifying individual on our California contractor license and provide direct oversight of all construction and installation activities. You will ensure code compliance, supervise subcontractors, and help build a standardized, scalable field operations process for installing modular ADUs throughout California.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the qualifying individual (RME) for the company’s CSLB Class B contractor license.
  • Work full-time (32+ hours/week), providing active, day-to-day supervision of projects.
  • Oversee site prep, foundation work, utility hookups, and ADU installation.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, local inspectors, and municipalities to ensure full code and permit compliance.
  • Maintain project quality, timelines, and budgets.
  • Support project documentation, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with hiring and training of local field crews or construction managers.
  • Report directly to senior leadership on field performance and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Must meet CSLB requirements to serve as an RME:
    • Valid and active California Class B General Building Contractor License (or ability to qualify via experience and exams).
    • Minimum 4 years of verifiable journey-level experience in general building construction.
  • Strong working knowledge of California building codes, permitting processes, and ADU regulations.
  • Experience managing construction or installation crews.
  • Proficient in site planning, blueprint reading, and basic construction project management.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of self-managing across multiple job sites.

Preferred:

  • Experience in modular, manufactured, or prefab construction.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Familiar with Cal/OSHA and field safety practices.
