Porter

Position Summary:

A Porter is responsible for keeping the facilities clean to company standards. Duties include sweeping and mopping, taking out the trash, clean restrooms and ensure that all cleaning and sanitary materials remain in stock.

Essential Job Functions:

• Maintain the highest standards to ensure the quality and cleanliness in the Casino, Public Areas, Offices and other required areas
• Assume the responsibility for keeping your assigned area maintained in accordance with policies and procedures
• Clean between slot machines, remove papers, glasses, debris, and discard all empty bottles
• Empty and clean ashtrays/urns and trashcans
• Keep all equipment clean and free of marks
• Keep all slot chairs/table chairs clean in assigned area
• Wipe down all slot machines, changes booths and change banks located in assigned area.
• Remove trash from assigned areas
• Remove spots from mirrors, doors, windows and walls, located in assigned area
• Clean all bathrooms in assigned area as outlined in job procedures and as trained
• Maintain equipment and supplies in an orderly manner as instructed by Supervisor
• Report maintenance needs to the Supervisor
• Report emergency repairs or situations to a Supervisor and/or Security immediately
• Communicate with management and fellow co-workers using a two-way radio.
• Deal with guests in a friendly manner, providing service and information when possible; contact Supervisor when unable to fully handle guest's needs to ensure proper handling
• Clean-up biohazards according to proper procedures
• All other duties assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 21 years of age
• Must be able to obtain Health card
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to follow and give directions effectively
• Work knowledge of the property, all cleaning procedures, equipment and supplies
• Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust
• Ability to traverse all parts of the Casino quickly
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. In some instances, the entire shift
• Intermittent periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Ability to lift at least but not limited to 50 pounds and if more must be with assistance
• Flexibility in the wrist to scoop, twist, push, pull, lift, and bend
•  Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print)
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects)
• Ability to move quickly turning from left to right or right to left
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping

Education and Required Experience:

• Minimum 2 years Porter experience
• Previous experience in Environmental Services, public area or comparable positions
• Previous experience working in a similar resort setting
• High School diploma or equivalent
